Keetham lake, also known as the Sur Sarovar. This scenic lake, is about 12 km from sikandra is located within the Sur Sarovar Bird Sanctuary. Keetham Lake is linked by Railway track at Keetham Railway Station and was declared as National Bird Sanctuary on 27 March 1991 by U.P. Forest Department.
The riverine belt of River Yamuna surrounds the area of Sur-Sarovar. The entire lake is formed in a catchment area of 7.13 km². Keetham Lake is pentagonal in shape. There are artificially created islands for shelter and breeding grounds to the migratory birds.
The best thing is that is placed on the way of Delhi and tourist can visit during their journey to Agra.
The raw water for Keetham Lake is obtained from Agra Canal originating from Okhla barrage on River Yamuna in Delhi. At Delhi Agra road, the Agra Canal water is diverted through Jodhpur branch near Anand Engineering College(where i completed my bachelor’s) located about 2 km from Keetham.
The lake water of Keetham is also used as raw water intake for Mathura Refinery Water Treatment Plant located in vicinity of Keetham Lake
U.P. Forest Department has created woodlands and developed shallow areas near lake, making it a natural habitat for birds nesting sites.
Also known as Sur Sarovar, this beautiful lake is located on the Agra Delhi Highway inside the Sur Sarovar Bird Sanctuary. As the name suggests, the place is specifically home to various migratory birds which come here and make it their home during the season. There are manmade shelters around the area that let one witness the birds around and enjoy a nice scenic view. The lake is pentagonal in shape and has been kept well. Its easy distance from Agra is another plus that makes it a top destination among the ‘Must Visits’. There are over 105 species of birds found here including purple heron, comb duck and pintail making it a lovely hangout place for nature lovers and bird watchers. Shutterbugs will also find a lot of things that can interest them here. Spare a few hours and have fun amidst the lap of nature.

The best time to visit this place is in the winter season from November till March when climate conditions are perfect for breeding for the birds.
